The pocket Bush of the Bushland of Australia, aka John Howard, has poured vitriol on Democratic presidential nomination contender Barack Obama, saying that terrorists would be 'praying' for an Obama victory in 2008.
Funny that Howard chose to go after Obama, isn't it? After all, Hillary Clinton launched her presidential campaign a couple of weeks ago. Sure, she voted for the war, but she has since performed a complete backflip and claims that she will 'end' the war if she becomes president.
Howard knows that Obama's chances of becoming president are minimal. But is the perceived lesser chance of an Obama victory than a Hillary victory the only reason Howard chose to launch a verbal attack on the high profile black candidate when both candidates profess to be against the US war on Iraq?
I almost wish we could see Obama and Howard win their respective elections so we could witness the massive display of grovelling that Howard would be forced to undertake. After all, it's Howard who is persistently bleating about the importance of the US-Australia 'alliance'. Is the alliance not so important if a black Democratic candidate becomes president?
Obama, meanwhile, has responded to the attack by Pocket Bush by telling him to put his money where his mouth is and lay 20 000 more Australian lives on the line instead of our token contribution of 1400 troops. 20 000 would make Australia's contribution proportionate to the Americans'. Obama knows as well as Howard that if Australian lives were being lost there would be public outrage, which is why our troops are carefully coddled away in the more benign parts of Iraq. We're providing a fig leaf for Bush's war, not real support.

It doesn't matter how many troops Barack Obama challenges Howard to send to Iraq.
I think Howard is more concerned about his own image back home if the US withdraws its troops and cuts its losses.
Bush is on his way out. Nothing can hurt him now. Howard has plenty to lose. And I'm sure he remembers all the Australians who were affected by the past bombings in Bali.
"Osama prays for Obama"?
Bloggers cry out: "You llama!"
Johnny's comment was weak,
Now he's up shit creek,
Thank Christ for that harsh bitch called Karma.
I'm a poet, and I.. the prior advice I relied upon had suggested otherwise.
Crikey said proportionally it would be more like 3.4k. But don't get me wrong. We proportionally have our share out and about in the Solomons and Timor as well.
We're doing out part there well and for the right reasons. And more importantly we were invited to those two :)
Yeah, exactly. Unlike Iraq, the Pacific deployments aren't some sort of bizarre love-letter to the world's most powerful moron.
