Of Fiscal Conservatives and Cricket Tragics

'“You can say you're a fiscal conservative but you've got to act like one to be believed to be one,” Mr Howard told Southern Cross Broadcasting.

“When you've opposed all the fiscally conservative measures that this government's put up over the last few years, it's a bit rich to turn around and say 'despite all of that, forget my behaviour, just read my lips - I am a fiscal conservative'. Give us a break.”'

John Howard, 2007

"And that of course is said by a Prime Minister who’s never been shy or reluctant about parading his credentials as either a cricket tragic or somebody who has a great love of many of the other sports that Australians play."

John Howard
, 2001

Somehow I don't think Johnny's much better at telling us about Rudd than he is about describing himself.
