Kevin Rudd gets lapdance. Glenn Milne drools with jealousy.

Now this is one of the funniest things I've heard in ages: Kevin Rudd in a strip-club! MB has already posted on this, and she put up a nice excerpt from Glenn Milne's finger-waving rant on Rudd's 2003 visit to Scores NYC. You know, this Glenn Milne. The one who got blind drunk at the 2006 Walkley Awards and assaulted Crikey founder Stephen Mayne.

I particularly liked this bit:

You have to ask yourself what Therese, his wife of 25 years -- who has sacrificed her career to his ambitions -- and his teenage children would be thinking on discovering their husband and father cavorted with strippers in Manhattan. Voters will be having the same thoughts

Sacrificed her career? She has? Therese Rein is a multimillionaire and still owns and runs her own company (despite selling off the Australian arm of its operations thanks to suggestions by sexist journalists and coalition politicians that Kevin Rudd somehow controlled her business because he was her husband). I'm not sure Ms Rein would agree that she has 'sacrificed her career'. In fact, here's what Glenn Milne had to say about Therese Rein's career only a few months ago:

Ms Rein, who founded and runs her own $165 million annual turnover job-placement firm, is independently wealthy. She made her money largely out of government funding after John Howard's privatisation of the country's job-placement system.

In an interview last month she signalled she wanted to keep her business role, should Labor win office later this year.

Well look at that! Apparently in the months since, Therese Rein has donned a housecoat and been padding around the house in slippers, picking up after Kevvie and cooking him meat and 3 veg for dinner. That, or Milne is making shit up.

To be honest, I can picture Kevin Rudd going into a strip club, carefully combed hair slightly skewiff, probably giggling.

I bet he blushed when the strippers took off their tops, too.

Does it make me want to vote for him any more or less than I do now? No. Anyone who bases their decision on whether to vote for Rudd on the fact that he went to a strip club once upon a time (or even once a week- who cares?) is a bloody idiot.

yeah, she didn't have to find capital or win any contracts. ironic coming from yet another of john howard's remora.

It would only affect my vote if Rudd had gone on the record at one point decrying sexual perversion and the decline in society's morals. Then it would be hypocritical, but as it stands I can't exactly see why people think this is supposed to be so damaging to his leadership ambitions.
