Newman ahead of Rowell in polls

According to this post on Larvatous Prodeo, quoting Crikey, Campbell Newman's primary vote is sitting pretty at around 60%. And the strongest Liberal seats are in the outlying suburbs, i.e. the bogan habitats (my guess is that the Liberal vote is especially strong in the developer-planned white-person communities we constantly see advertised on TV with 'waters' in the name).

60%. Looks like Brisbane can permanently kiss goodbye to any hope of a sensibly planned and managed public transport system.

I've got to say though, Greg Rowell is a pretty lame alternative. His idea of pulling a Campbell Newman-style camera-whoring stunt was cleaning graffiti off a wall. What a bomb. I do like Rowell's CityCat proposal, assuming he actually plans on delivering it.

The polls look really bad for Labor's chances of winning back the position of Lord Mayor. There may be a ray of light in Toowong Ward (which is ours, I think) where the polls are fairly evenly split between Labor, Liberal and Green, so a Greens candidate may get up on preferences.

There are some fairly insightful comments in the LP post as to how the race is looking- enough to give anyone interested a much better idea of what's going on than has been reported in any of the mainstream media outlets.

I don't know whether it was better (wishfully) thinking that Rowell might have actually had a chance or facing the reality of the retarded-monkey-in-chief Newman being Lord Mayor for another 4 years.
