Brisbane drivers face mild criticism

Brisbane drivers are allegedly Australia's 'most impatient'. That explains why I almost never see a set of lights change without some idiot flooring it through after the light has already turned red, knowing that there are no cameras and they have a second or two before the lights turn green for the other cars at the intersection. But I think 'impatient' is far too mild a description. Frankly, I think running red lights is criminally irresponsible- and when you're a pedestrian who has to jump back from the kerb after the 'little man' turns green because some idiot has decided to run the red, and you miss your puny 5 seconds of 'walk' time, you tend to develop the view that drivers who do this deserve a bit more than a slap with a wet lettuce. Which is how such 'misdemeanours' are treated in the media. Drivers do things that endanger people's lives, the government slaps them with a fairly pathetic fine and the Miranda Devines of the world squeal 'revenue raising!'. Teh horror. To think that someone could be forced to hand over money for breaking the law and endangering people's lives. What is the world coming to?
