There are just so many people willing to jump up and tell us about how David Clarke is a homophobic bigot and woman-hater who believes Australian law should reflect Biblical law on matters such as homosexual sex and abortion. Yeah, that bit in the bible about abortion...
Anyway, as a devout Catholic and proud member of Opus Dei, Clarke is happy to declare that those people are all LIARS!!! and that he is in fact completely down wit' fags and baby killers, er, make that 'those of the homosexual persuasion and women exercising their reproductive rights' just like most fanatical Catholics are. Why, he's astounded, wounded even, that people might actually see truth in such claims. The poor man. Obviously people are just out to get him and his scarily ambitious little Hill$ong-member sidekick Alex Hawke. Everyone knows the Christian love (TM) and charity that Opus Dei and Hill$ong members extend to women who are pregnant and feel they are in such a hopeless situation that abortion is the best thing for themselves and their baby. All they want offer to such women is understanding. That's why they gather outside women's health and abortion clinics shouting and waving placards. If the media wasn't so biased we'd all know by now that those people are in fact offering help to these women by screaming that they will burn in the fires of hell. Yes indeed. The same Christian love (TM) and charity that they extend to homosexuals, just like the Christian love (TM) that George Pell offers to his lesbian cousin and all other gays and lesbians.
So what would several current and former NSW Liberal Party members know? They're out to get him, that's what it is. After all, no politician would say one thing in private and another in public then lie about their beliefs to get ahead! An unprecedented notion!
