"Here's what I think of public transport users"The CityCat stops will only be built- get this- by his developer mates who bid the most money to have the stop located near their new apartment complexes. Not where they're needed most, but where his mates, who donate tens of thousands of dollars to his re-election campaign, decide they should go. He's a whore, and a cheap one at that, but he's also pimping out Brisbane's river to developers rather than making decisions on public transport based on what best serves the public's needs.
And he's so fucking blatant about it. I can't believe it. Will Brisbane be stupid enough to re-elect this man for a second term as Lord Mayor?

I think the sad answer to that is YES.
People kept re-electing Howard and he was infinitely less dodgy than Campbell.

You think I like it any better when the Labor state government does it? You don't read much of this blog, obviously. Are you defending Newman on this one, or is it only bad when Labor do it? I'm not sure I understand the point of your comment.

incidentally, i have two degrees and i think campbell newman is a fucking wanker. so does mikey, the gentleman who referred to the lord mayor as a 'fucking clown'. magic bellybutton is working while studying for a degree, i think she already has one. sarah has a degree and is an honours student. it would appear your premise is as solid as campbell's budget. perhaps it's a focus on superficial trivialities that is a sign of a closed, small mind?

My comment about gratuitous profanities stands. The word is meaningless wherever you have used it and serves no purpose just like your comments on matters political.
A University education is no excuse for murdering the language.

Seems I'm a bit late to join in on the flame wars but I'll throw in my comment anyway.
Campbell flogging off City Cat sites to developers further highlights his opinion that public transport is utterly irrelevant to his overall transport ‘plan’. He couldn’t care less where they’re built just as long as having them in the ‘budget’ at election time manages to fool a few voters into thinking he’s on top of the PT issue.
Oh, I was recently informed that Campbell Newman is a Civil Engineer! Being one myself I can’t understand how he manages to ignore years of courses related to Transportation Planning and the importance of public transport in an integrated transport solution, unless they didn’t impart this knowledge in his day….

Peter- my brother is a civil engineer too. Apart from what you said about ignoring years of courses relating to transportation planning, I thought a person actually had to be intelligent to get into the degree in the first place... Do they let *anyone* into those courses as long as they're in the army? I can't believe Newman would have got in straight out of highschool on academic merit... Unless he just pretends to be a moron because it appeals to voters, I dunno...
