Pity he didn't fall in the river...

Douches on Bikes: Campbell Newman and his 'Can Do' team.

It's local election time in Brisbane, and Campbell Newman is busying himself with the same kind of stunts that got him elected last time around- i.e. wearing stuff with 'Can Do' plastered all over it and getting his mug on TV and in the papers.

This time, he's promising bike paths. Cyclists are worse than second class citizens when it comes to use of Brisbane roads, and 'bike path' often means a yellow line painted on the road that is regularly crossed by heavy vehicles and people who decide to pull over and talk to their mate on the side of the road. A death trap, in other words.

Real bike paths are few and far between, and of course it was one of the nice, safe ones that Campbell Newman chose for today's bike stunt. What I'd really like to know is where he parked his 4WD that he obviously used to cart the bikes to the bikepath so he could cycle toward the waiting media and pretend he cares about, you know, the envoi-ron-ment and stuff. Wanker. I'll believe it when he gives up his car and starts cycling to work.

I'd hate to judge a book by it's cover but it seriously looks like he's never even been on a bike before...

Unless he happened to pull a stunt on one last election. I can't remember. Certainly looks a damn site less competent that your average 6 year old...

I don't recall a bike stunt...I recall a citycat stunt and him getting down on all fours shaking his head at the decaying pipes that were wasting oh so much water isn't it terrible.
I also recall a lot of billboards...what a monstrous visage.
