Ugh.
At the next state elections and only as a second preference. Still, god damn you Peter Beattie and your mob of crooked, bought off kleptocrats for making us do this. We've talked about the North Bank eyesore that the govt. has sold the river to Multiplex to rape. Like you don't have enough money and power already. Leave the river alone, bastards.
Why are we the only QLD bloggers talking about this? There are plenty of Queenslanders and Brisbanites who read this blog. Come on, make a post that we can link to!
Do you want to live here?
Or here?

Don't even kid with that stuff!
no kidding. deadly serious. i will be preferencing the libs at the next state election if this gets rammed through. beattie and co. are starting to act a lot like the howard govt.
Will have a really in-depth look at it over the weekend. But yes, from what little I know, it pisses me off.
All aboard, plenty of room down the back, thanks for choosing Teh Anti-Labor Train. *toot* *toot*
Bracks campaigned against the Liberal's crazy desalination plant plans, and won the election. Now he's gonna solve the water crisis with a desalination plant, and REMOVING the requirement for new homes to have water tanks.
WTF? There is a disease of arrogance that affects all politicians who hold long-term office and start to believe they'll never be held accountable.
I'll be voting Green, again. Will preference the Libs above Labor if the Beattie/Bligh govt. don't pull their heads in on this issue, but I'm hoping there'll be someone I can preference above the Libs. I would feel so dirty voting for the Libs...
I'm late to this party but can I throw in a non-expert outsider's thoughts?
In Perth a horrid mistake was made in the 60s when hectares of our river were filled in for a freeway interchange. By contrast there's a project near my home where a small bit of sea is being filled in for marina housing -- it's controversial, but not entirely bad because at least they're rehabilitating polluted industrial land.
Is there not any redeeming quality to the Northbank development? I mean, pictures of Los Angeles' mistakes aside, surely they're not proposing to fill in the entire river ...
have a look at the picture. they're halving the river's width, obscuring historic buildings and uglifying the cbd. they'll also destroy mangroves that barely grow on the bank.
i suppose there's going to be a pool. who knows, it might even be free.
At least there will be less of that shitty looking brown river to look at...
