From the dreams of Spencer Tunick.
Actually, not true. It's from '500 person sex', a japanese porn movie- so freaky-cool.
This is a fun subject.
Given that previous research has suggested that women don't dream about sex as often as men, results likely stemming from the reluctance of women to report such events due to feelings that such dreams may be unusual or inappropriate, it seems possible that the results of the latest study may be subject to the same social inhibitions that influence womens' response.
Women are now just as likely as men to report having dreams of a sexual nature. Results of this study show that women are more likely to fantasise about politicians (clearly this study was not undertaken in Australia, or it would have been titled 'Sex Nightmares'), rock stars and celebrities- get this- including Bono.
*Throws up in hat*
Men are more likely to report having fantasies about multiple partners, and dreams where the woman comes onto them rather than the other way around- something scoffed at in the article as 'wishful thinking'. What about the women? Did they report hitting on the celebrities in their dreams, or vice-versa? Is that wishful thinking?
What's not addressed, however, is what has changed in society that enables women in these studies to feel free reporting more of their erotic dreams. Not addressed either, are the social constraints that may persist in influencing what they report. Why are women likely to report fewer dreams about sex than men? There is a social double standard that still exists with regard to women who sleep with multiple men as somehow being 'loose' with their sexuality, while the same activity for men is seen as more acceptable. Are women's sex dreams influenced by their biology, or is it merely that their reporting of such dreams is still influenced by society, albeit in perhaps a smaller way than used to be the case?

I've been having sex dreams all week. Of course, they also involved economics, which is very odd.
I wasn't minding them so much until the other night just before bed I read about Mick Jagger trying to enlarge his penis with bee stings (true? Who knows?), so instead of having the economics & lesbian dreams that I had been having, I had an economics and Mick Jagger nightmare. Definitely preferred the former.
Mick Jagger's penis. *shudder*
I've noticed that sex dreams change in frequency depending on the stage of the menstural cycle. But maybe that's just me remembering them more a different times of the month.
Mick Jagger! That's right up there with politicians, although not perhaps not quite in Bono territory.
I think mine change in frequency throughout my cycle too, particularly if I haven't had the real thing for a couple of days!
I dunno, Bono is pretty bad.
Seems to be some support to the menstrual cycle theory. I've only read the abstract of this paper though - wanting to pay to find out something that I already suspected!
That would be "not wanting to pay". Doh!
I fully feel like I am listening in to two hot chicks at a coffee shop.
Is that a real movie. Like actually 500 people having sex?
I'm not surprised girls have sex dreams and the nature of them. Power means provision of safety. So powerful men - even ugos - become sexy I guess because subconciously there's a recognition of their status and of their ability to provide status/excitement. For guys with multiple partners then it means more chance of your seed being passed on.
I could be talking through my arse however.
I hate not ever having been part of the 20's let's have sex lots crowd. Too fat and unattractive. Even to drunk people. It's a real regret. A stupid childish regret but a regret nonethless.
Mikey, I think that crowd is actually a fiction that belongs in Hollywood! Certainly most of the people we know are conservative enough that they only have sex with one person (as far as we know, that is!).
MB- I dunno, Bono is pretty bad. That's what I meant... he's in a league of wankery all of his own!
Also, that journal article is available in fulltext via UQ library- if you're a UQ student you have access. If not, I can email it to you (the academic equivalent of illegal file sharing... lol).

That was funny.
I suppose it doesn't help matters when I tell you that at least one of the lesbians I dreamt about really is a lesbian, as opposed to the others who seemed to be figments of my imagination? And they were all really hot?
No, I didn't think so.
Sarah - I don't think "wanker" even comes close to describing the horror that is Bono!
I'm at QUT, so I don't have access. Doesn't seem to be available at our library. Would love it if you could email me with it (though, no hurry): magicbellybutton@yahoo.com.au
Thanks!
