Alexander Downer's New Best Friend

Glenn Milne being thrown out of the Walkleys after behaving like a gentleman

When Mr Rudd was asked yesterday whether the emergence of the story was the start of a Liberal smear campaign, he immediately pointed to the Foreign Minister, Alexander Downer.

"It's a question you should put to Mr Downer and his staff, but my responsibility is simply to be upfront and accountable for my own actions."

Mr Downer refused to be drawn on the matter yesterday but his spokesman did say Mr Downer had never been to Scores with Col Allan, the Australian editor of Rupert Murdoch's New York Post.It was Mr Allan who took Mr Rudd and Mr Snowdon to the nightclub when the two were staying in New York as observers at the United Nations.

Mr Allan has been reported as saying that Mr Rudd had behaved like a gentleman. Mr Rudd said yesterday he was puzzled why, if the alleged events were serious, they had not been raised with him or published earlier.

Just heard an interview with "journalist" Glenn Milne where he refused to deny that Downer put him onto this four year old story that apparently been common knowledge among the press corps. The rest of the govt. is staying quiet about this because, unlike Downer, the slow kid who always eats his crayons, they have learned that smear attacks on Rudd don't work because he hasn't been around as long as they have. The story that Rudd being the last Queenslander to go to a strip club is laughable reason to not vote for him, especially compared to the moral lodestars in the current govt.

Here's some of Liberal party employee Glenn Milne's work for the govt. on the last opposition leader:

Political columnist Glenn Milne didn't check with the Sunday show before pumping the video story out to News Ltd papers.

If any of the claims are provable Latham’s support could crumble.
Glenn Milne on how Mark Latham’s private past could harm his public future.
Allegations about Mark Latham’s treatment of his first wife, Gabrielle, threaten to derail the Labor Leader’s run for The Lodge…And over the past 48 hours, there’s been fevered speculation in Canberra about the existence of a raunchy “bucks night” video involving Latham – and whether that was the smoking gun about to be fired by Sunday.
