Ever since picking up a packet of 'Crown Pie' at the local Coles when they first appeared on the shelves, Gam and I have a habit of trying out any of these dry, slightly sweet cake-like items covered with a vaguely chocolate-flavoured fatty coating that we see. The Hanaro Mart in Toowong is a rich vein to mine for such creations, and here is a 'chocolate coating cake' whose 'blurb' tickled my fancy.
No better or worse than any of the others we've tried, although the 'chocolate' coating is perhaps a tad thicker. No sticker on the packet featuring the ingredients list in English, but I won't dob them in for that. The layer in the middle of the cake that to my mind looks rather like jam on the packaging in fact turned out to be a thinnish layer of opaque, brown, oily-textured stuff that was slightly sweeter than the cake.
I have yet to convince Gam to try another brand that includes a 'cheese flavour' of such a chocolate-coated cake. Complete with pictures of swiss cheese slices on the packaging. I think it's worth buying for the experience, even if it does turn out to be completely disgusting!

My partner travels to Japan for work and comes home with these bags and packets of mystery Japanese sweets.
Me: You can't eat that, you don't know what it is!
Him: Well, there's a picture of a plum on it.
Me: *shocked silence as he munches away on mystery cake-like lolly thing*
Him: Tastes alright!
Yes, try it! Let us know how it goes.
Love the blurb.
