I know I've previously said I'm going to vote for the Greens and preference the LNP above Labor at the next Queensland state election. I was going to hold my breath and do it just to make a protest vote against Anna Bligh. Because god knows she needs a good electoral slap up the head.
But honestly, if it's going to put me in the same boat as those 'Poo-woomba' idiots I think I will just be too damn embarrassed. The LNP has actually declared this next election "a referendum on recycled water". Yup. That's the biggest issue facing our state, in the minds of those morons. Recycled water. Dear god. I'll never be able to show my face in public again if I vote for the LNP.
I'm leery enough about voting Green now that Ronan Lee is on board, given what several commenters here (especially Nyree, who I put a lot more stock in than the multiple 'anonymouses') have noted about his belief in denying gay people their rights and being part of the forced-pregnancy pregnancy brigade. He's been very vocal on green issues but totally silent on things like making abortion legal in Queensland... Plus the fact he hasn't bothered to answer the question I emailed him weeks ago about being anti-choice... it all makes me rather suss on what I'm voting for when I vote 'Green'. I'm going to email him again just in case he lost it in all the excitement of jumping ship on Anna Bligh.
This might be the first election I haven't really enjoyed voting in. Still, I imagine it will be worse for the poor suckers living in NSW. Regardless of who wins government there at the next election, the outcome is going to be bad.

Run as an Independent.
I'm sure there are plenty of people like you who don't like the choices they have.
If I win Powerball, I'll bankroll the whole operation.
I don't believe the LNP are saying the recycled water is the biggest issue. They are saying it is an important issue. The people I speak to agree. They also have policies addressing a raft of other issues such as the gross payment on solar power generated in homes, more teachers in schools, and a commitment to fix our health care.
I've been following the policy debates between the two major parties, and I've come to the decision QLD needs change. The LNP have the opportunity to do a lot of good. For 17 of the last 19 years, we've had a Labor gov. We need a fresh set of people to tackle some of these issues.
