Afghan government arrests TV host for criticism

If this had happened in Russia it would have been all over the news. Instead, it rated a puny few lines on a news feed, because Afghanistan is 'our' oppressively governed country, not one that belongs to the appointed bad guys.

Afghan intelligence agents detained a television talk-show host who has been critical of the government, the chief spokesman for President Hamid Karzai said, adding that private media outlets had come under the influence of unnamed foreign countries. The host, Nasir Fayaz, is the moderator of a weekly show called “Truth.”

Looks like poor old Nasir Fayaz took his job too seriously and thought it actually was his job to broadcast the truth.
