Google okays racist blogs.

Just quickly- who wants to bet that if Blogger was hosting blogs by groups of paedophiles Google wouldn't be waiting for a court order to have them taken down?

Apparently racist blogs promoting violence and publishing the names, addresses, photographs and even the location of family tombstones of anti-racism campaigners are ok, though. Way to go, Google.

Bummer. But at least it's balanced out by the fact that when the FBI asked for their logs Google told them to get fucked.

The only major search engine who did.

If I was the Google decision maker I'd behave exactly the same way. For anything but black-and-white cases ask for evidence because you don't want anyone accuse you of being anti-American eh.

Btw I actually read the new agreement (for the Blogger BETA) and it says that if there's a subpoena Google has the right to pass on any information it knows about you. From connecting my blogger account to my Gmail, and on through my contacts I'm certain there is nothing the FBI couldn't find out about me given a reason to search.

I don't think that fact "Google told [the FBI]to get fucked" exonerates it. It's done a fair few dodgy things (like assist in building up the great firewall of China for the Chinese government), but nothing to directly upset the average Westerner.

Google is racist. Today is Kwanzaa and there is no fun logo for it on the home page and never has been. Thanks, Google. We're really feeling the love.
