'Scrotum'

Apparently all 9-12 year old American boys are unaware of this name for a particular part of their anatomy.

I can't even remember a time when I didn't know the word 'scrotum'... I presume I would have learned it when I was around 20 months old and my baby brother was born. What the hell else would you call it? It's an anatomical term.

Now some in the US are getting outraged at the presence of the word 'scrotum' in a children's book that won the Newberry Medal. It refers to an incident in which a dog is bitten on the scrotum by a rattlesnake.

This bout of stupidity must surely be enough to qualify for a position in the great hall of the World's Lamest Controversies...


As for what label to use for this post- I'd love to make a label for 'sheer stupidity', but I'm afraid that the category might overtake all others... any suggestions?
