WHORE!

Thank god something has been done about the increasing numbers of ads featuring doctors spruiking various over-the-counter drugs. Now I'll be able to quit yelling "WHORE!!!" whenever that blonde apparition with the fixed grin appears on our TV screen... ("Dr Penny" something or other... I think her name is- Penny Adams, maybe) because it'll soon be illegal. Ha!

Of course there's always fine print saying "Dr Penny" is paid for her glowing endorsement of drug product X. Not that you wouldn't notice from the big shit-eating grin she's got fixed on her face at the thought of her children's private school fees being covered for the year for the price of a few minutes of degrading her profession in front of the camera.

UPDATE: I should note that it is the AMA that has been pushing the Howard government to ban such ads. Good on them for wanting to maintain their credibility.
