Spending several days on a microbiology prac book write up (entirely by hand, including copying out the method... can you tell the course is run by a frigging 70-year-old?!) only two days after finding out that this boring-arse subject* is no longer a prerequisite and everyone in the year behind me will be able to go straight into Food Micro without having to wade through this subject first. So I'm stuck doing a subject that's been deemed entirely unnecessary by the faculty.
Phooey.

* It's not ALL boring. It's just that I really don't care that Archaea have tetraether-linked something something with isoprene side-chains, or that N-acetylmuramic acid is only found in bacteria, let alone how the flagellar motor works. I do have an excellent bench tutor for pracs (whose identical twin sister is tutor for the next bench, making for some occasional confusion), but this doesn't really make up for the fact that the people running the course continually lecture us about what we'll have to do in order to get a good job working as a microbiologist in a lab somewhere after we finish our degree, when most of the people doing the course don't even want to become a bloody microbiologist!
