That's the spirit!

"We treat our customers the same way we treat our workers!"

What better way to celebrate our 1000th post than by giving Qantass the finger?

It's quite appropriate, really, given that I started this blog as a rant outlet and I still have residual rage from the shitty way they treated us on my first trip overseas in July 2003. I swore at the time I would badmouth them to everyone I knew. Now I can badmouth them to everyone I don't know!

I'm quite proud to say that VTAY has 2 entries on the first page of google search results for 'Qantass'. If only I could have 2 entries on the first page of google search results for 'Qantas' my mission would be complete! Unfortunately the logo of which I'm so proud does not appear in the google image results for 'Qantass'. Shame!

Apparently I haven't related the entire story of our Qantass experience on this blog yet- that will have to be a holiday project, given how long a rant it's likely to be. [UPDATE: Gam found the post for me- go here to read of our godawful Qantass experience]

Meanwhile, enjoy the news that's been obvious to Qantas customers for so long- they're officially the world's worst airline! I must say, we've never flown Singapore Airlines (it was Malaysia Airlines last time), but from the number of recommendations we've received for Singapore Airlines by people who fly regularly, I'd say their number 1 ranking is spot on. Reading the 'Is Qantas really that bad?' reader forum on the SMH was pretty funny. One guy's experience pretty much mirrored ours, except he was forced to buy $1600 business class tickets, and when he complained they sent him a $100 restaurant voucher.

Nice to get that off your chest!

Singapore and Emirates are the best in the world. Their economy tickets aren't more than other airlines (often), and for long hauls flights it makes all the diff to go with these airlines that take service seriously.
Emirates at a pinch might be better? But hey those people are ROLLING in $$$, which I find quite reassuring at 40,000 feet!

I've had bad flights with: Thai (crappy plane, rickety console, tv screens not working); Cathay (seats too small for my travelling companion's comfort - and I mean way too small, and he's not unusually tall at 181cm).
Qantas/BA did me a massive favour once - but I have heard HORROR stories including from my husband who absolutely refuses to fly long haul with them. I like flying with KLM, but my husband had to pay like some RIDICULOUS amount for a bit of overweight luggage...

If I had to fly Qantas/BA, I would.
But there are a range of airlines I will never fly with under any circumstances whatsoever, for safety reasons (including J.A.L., which is supposed to have good service, and a range of other east asian airlines...)

I would personally nominated SAS Scandinavian Air Systems as THE worst airline I have ever been near, to trump Qantas by doing everything Qantas does, and more!
But it doesn't go to Australia.

Thanks for the rant-space :)

Emmirates has one down side. If you act like a goose and you're headed toward the UAE then you're facing some serious time. See here.

Actually it says Etihad air. That different?
