Now that 33 people are dead after a gunman's rampage at Virginia Tech, the worst school shooting in US history, with the gunman reported to have been in possession of more than one semi-automatic weapon, might it be time for President Bush to admit that he was wrong not to renew Bill Clinton's 1994 Federal Assault Weapons Ban?
Somehow, I doubt the thought of being 'lifted up' in that scumbag's prayers will be enough for the families of the dead.

while dubya's played his part, the us problem with gun violence extends much further than just bush. both sides of politics are so terrified of appearing to favour even the most sensible gun control that before every election both candidates have to be photographed shooting something.
Maybe now the Americans will finally wake up to themselves.
As someone who lived there for several years, I have seen first hand how gun-crazy they are.
I particularly liked the way George W read from a prepared speech when giving his reaction to the media.
Remember Kerry in his hunting outfit? This is a man who killed other men in combat Vs a man who hid from it. Yet he still felt the need to go out and abase himself for the NRA.

Umm... none of the weapons he used would have been covered by the ban.
And if law-abiding VT students weren't denied their Constitutional right to carry guns on campus, I guarantee the rampage would have ended a whole lot quicker.
idiot. yeah, i'm sure the police would have been able to tell the good shooters from the bad ones and that the students fleeing for their lives would have been able to tell that the warnings about an armed student on a murderous rampage would mean the perp as opposed to all the other students waving guns. what a fucking moron.
